Inter-Religous Council at UNM

The Inter-Religious Council (IRC) at the University of New Mexico is a collection of religous communities who have come together from a wide variety of religious traditions to share a common interest in the free expression of religious faith in the life of the university. Staff/volunteers meet on a monthly basis to discuss trends in student life, share stories and experiences, and hear from university representatives about programs and services.  Some groups have affiliated chartered student organizations, and some do not.  Membership is open to ministers, professionals, or others recognized by their sponsoring religious body as being representatives of a religious organization which specifically serves the University of New Mexico community.  To inquire about joining IRC, please contact the leadership below.  The Student Activities Center (SAC) is the University of New Mexico representative on IRC.

The UNM Christian Challenge is a student organization that exists to help students seek meaningful lives through knowing, sharing, and serving Jesus. If you are curious about the Christian faith, have questions about the Bible, or looking for a community that will care for you during college we would love to connect with you! We are not a church but are supported by many local churches near campus. Our hope is that by the time you graduate you are able to love God and love others for the rest of your life.

The CSC building is located on the east side of campus by Taco Bell. It’s a place college students can call a second home and find a group of people who enjoy sharing life together while studying and experiencing the word of God in action. We have a passion for sharing the Lord’s kingdom and the love of Christ with others. We experience this through service projects, events on UNM’s campus and Bible studies and worship on Wednesdays at 7PM (but you may want to drop in around 6 to just hang out, or play pool or ping pong with other students).

Every Nation Campus aims to be a diverse group of Christian students who engage with the UNM campus by: sharing the knowledge of Jesus with others, helping people in their relationship with Jesus and providing them with training for successful Christian living, leadership, and excellence, and providing a safe space where students feel welcome while they're working on it. We also aim to make a positive impact on the UNM campus by developing a safe sense of community.

The University of New Mexico understands the important role religious organizations have in the lives of students, faculty, and staff, for those who choose to practice.  While UNM supports IRC, each organization is independent of the University and the group's participation in IRC is not an endorsement of that group's activities.
