All organizations must send an officer to a chartering workshop. Please contact the Student Activities Center (277-4706) to set up a personal workshop.

 

SGAO Workshops!

The Student Government Accounting Office (SGAO) will be hosting Financial Workshops for Chartered Student Organizations who have received budgets through either the ASUNM or GPSA budget processes. You will receive a copy of you budget, sample internal requisition (IR) and helpful information on how to make the most of the funds you receive.

PB Fund Workshops!

These workshops are for graduate student groups receiving Pro-Rated Benefits (PB Funds). PB Funds are available to graduate or professional student organizations affilitated with a specific department. Contact SGAO (277-7888, SUB 1018) for more information about these workshops.

Basic Webpage Design
Forget complexities! When it comes to your organization, your webpage needs to please. This course is a surefire way to learn how to entice your audience and capture the essence of all ongoing activities. Design will be in Dreamweaver.

Budgeting Basics
Do you have money coming in and money going out, but still don’t know where it all goes? This is your chance to make some “cents” out of your organziation’s budget. You will learn how to use a basic spreadsheet to keep track of funds, develop a basic budget, and how to talk to your members about money.

Food Permits
When embarking on your own food sales or give-a-ways, obtaining permits is a must. You’re sure to have this sticky process in the bag after attending this course prepared specially by the State Health Inspector.

Leadership, the Zen Way
You have just spent four months leading your group through a productive semester, nailed down that winter break job, and finals are just around the corner...sounds like you may need to find some balance in your diet! By taking only sixty minutes of your hectic life you can learn to rebuild and rethink your strategies for managing stress and time. This course is sure to provide you with skills that will take you beyond Zen!

Parliamentary Procedure Basics
Bound to be flavorful, you will be introduced to a patchwork of effective ways to run a more productive meeting. With Robert’s Rules of Order there to guide you, you are sure to please even the pickiest of members.

Planning & Marketing Your Event
From start to finish, this is a course designed for taking just a bite or indulging in the full entrée. The course covers all elements of event planning, from reserving space to budgeting and tips for success. Whether your event is large or small, you are guaranteed to benefit from this dish.

Public Speaking
You know that old adage about speaking in public? “Pretend they aren’t wearing any clothes!” Let’s face it, there are people you just don’t want to picture in their underwear! This course will give you a few tantilizing strategies for building confidence and learning to speak in front of groups.

Student Organization Roundtables

Daily dishes prepared by students for students! These delectable morsels available on rare occasion provide insight into the inner workings of organizations just like yours. By sharing ideas and perspectives you will help each other work through common issues.

Travel for Your Organization
To expand your palate in other locales, first stop by for a taste of this course. Although complex, traveling on the student government dime can prove to be a fulfilling and rewarding experience for all. Thinking ahead is a skill easily acquired and quickly attained with the help of this course.

Leadershape
LeaderShape is a comprehensive program dedicated to inspire, develop, and support students committed to lead with integrity. This will be an all day program with facilitators. Several subjects will be explored with the goal of improving the skills of UNM student leaders. Look for applications to be a part of the program to be available in October in the Student Activities Center, SUB room 1018.
