The Associated Students of the University of New Mexico, also known as ASUNM, is the undergraduate student government for UNM. ASUNM is a great way for you to make your college experience more valuable. There are a variety of ways for you to get involved with ASUNM. ASUNM provides services and programs to the student body through its various agencies. These Student Service Agencies have both paid and volunteer positions. ASUNM Community Experience (CE)

Sometimes called CE, this group provides a variety of opportunities for students to participate in community service projects. CE sponsors Spring Storm, Fall Frenzy, the Giving Tree, many blood drives & food drives. Contact them for specific event info or to volunteer!
ASUNM Craft Studio

Located on the plaza level of the SUB, the Craft Studio provides an outlet where you can express your artistic talents by creating pottery or jewelry. Monthly workshops allow students to learn new skills in a variety of crafts. This agency also coordinates the Crafts Fair late in the fall semester. ASUNM Election Commission

Coordinating the three elections held each year is the primary function of this organization. In addition to the fall senate election, and spring presidential, vice presidential, and senatorial elections, they also implement the Homecoming King and Queen elections. ASUNM Emerging Lobo Leaders (ELL)

A program aimed at providing incoming (freshmen and transfer) students with experience and involvement in the various programs in ASUNM as well as leadership skills that can be applied to future involvement throughout UNM. After an application process, students are able to work with agency directors, volunteers, and senators, making connections that will benefit them throughout their student career. Students attend ASUNM events as well as other events around campus and are given unique opportunities that other students may not experience..

Encouraging interest in issues that impact college students, the Lobby Committee works to provide a student voice at the State Legislature. The Lottery to Success Scholarship and tuition rates are only a few examples of commonly addressed issues. To learn more or get involved, students should contact ASUNM.

email@example.com;#160; Increasing student spirit and involvement in campus traditions is the purpose of the Lobo Spirit Committee. With so many exciting events, the committee always welcomes new volunteers! Over the summer, and at the beginning of the fall semester. Lobo Spirit will be busy preparing for their largest events: Red Rally and Homecoming. They also coordinate the Lobo Day birthday celebration for UNM in February and a variety of other spirit activities throughout the year. ASUNM Southwest Film Center (SWFC)

Located on the plaza level in the SUB Theater, the Southwest Film Center is the home of UNM’s alternative cinema. Film types include documentary, foreign, animation, experimental and more. Showings run Thursday through Sunday and complete schedule of films can be found online. Student tickets are discounted and the concession prices can’t be beat in town ($3 for a soda and popcorn!).

Providing numerous entertainment events and activities for the campus makes SSE a well-known entity on-campus. Students can catch a weekly noontime concert on-campus or one of the many nationally known speakers, bands or comedians for free or a discounted student price. Recent performances have included The Shins, Jason Mraz, Frank Warren, Ghostface Killah, Girl Talk and more! Senate & Committees

Other opportunities for involvement with ASUNM are through the Senate. Ten senator positions become available each semester. The Senate makes laws, issues resolutions and allocates funds to student organizations. Students can also become involved in ASUNM by serving on faculty/student joint advisory boards and committees.
